SEC sues Consensys over MetaMask’s brokerage, staking services. The United States Securities and Exchange Commission has filed a lawsuit against Consensys, the parent company of MetaMask. According to a complaint on June 28, the company has been operating as an unregistered broker and engaging in the unregistered offer and sale of securities through MetaMask Swaps since 2020. The complaint claims that Consensys has collected more than $250 million in fees by brokering crypto asset transactions and offering staking services without proper registration, thereby depriving investors of crucial protections. The SEC seeks a permanent injunction, civil penalties and other equitable relief against Consensys for these alleged violations of federal securities laws.

Glassnode: BTC miners have not conducted a “full-scale sell-off” and may now be in the break-even phase Glassnode chief analyst James Check said in a second. This indicates a lower online hash rate and a slightly slower block generation rate. A hash band reversal occurs when the 30-day moving average of the hash rate is below the 60-day moving average, indicating mining difficulty. This could be due to a number of reasons, including increased operating costs, falling Bitcoin prices, or problems with miners' equipment. “Miners may be struggling here, they may not have fully entered the bear market level yet, they mine 10 Bitcoins and then sell 10 Bitcoins,” James said. “Mining companies must adapt and adjust fees to become their main source of income. to further innovate and apply effective capital management.”

Sharing here as I get asked a bit. For product demos I use screen.studio. The mobile support, ai captions and presentation are amazing. For screenshots with annotations and quick recordings on desktop, I use cleanshot.com. Both are one time payments. Highly recommend.

According to monitoring by The Data Nerd, a few hours ago, a certain address 0x5Ea (possibly the ether.fi treasury) deposited 300,000 ETHFI (about 1.19 million USD) into Binance. 3 months ago, this address received 8 million ETHFI from the treasury wallet. Currently, this address still holds 1.6 million ETHFI (about 6.35 million USD). Address:https://platform.arkhamintelligence.com/explorer/address/0x5EacB0b274B7f6BA712d2c55654c6534Db7e3200

Curve CEO clears up UwU Lend hack, CRV burn misinformation. Michael Egorov, the founder and CEO of Curve Finance (CRV), has weighed in on the recent UwU Lend hack, explaining that the incident did not exploit Curve Finance itself. In a Q&A with Cointelegraph, Egorov clarified that “this was not a Curve exploit. This was an exploit of a separate project [UwU Lend],” explaining: “[...] the hacker, as a part of cash-out play, deposited CRVs taken from UwU to lend.curve.fi (LlamaLend) and disappeared with the funds, leaving his debt in the system.” Egorov highlighted measures to prevent future exploits, recommending that UwU Lend “re-verify all contracts and connect them to good security auditors” to hopefully recuperate losses.
