Vitalik Buterin: Ethereum’s goal is 100,000 TPS via Layer 1 and Layer 2 Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has announced a long-term goal of reaching 100,000 transactions per second (TPS) on the base layer and L2 networks of Ethereum. In his blog, he called the next stage “The Surge,” emphasizing that the network will continue to scale through a rollup-oriented strategy. Buterin also proposed increasing the data throughput to 16 MB per slot and improving the approach to the gas limit. At the same time, he emphasized the need to maintain the decentralization and security of the main network (L1) to avoid the risk of centralization.
