it doesn’t outlast death so nothing happens to it after death. death guarantees the terminus of consciousness.

is consciousness limited, though? in a sense of what if it's unlimited? then how can it end? and if it can end and it is limited, can we expand the limit?

If you mean by consciousness β€œall consciousness,” all experiencing of consciousness in the universe, then it ends when the last conscious thing dies. But of course it exists as a permanent frozen block of spacetime and is forever in another sense.

I suppose it depends on what you mean by consciousness. If you mean a the unified field of sensation and thought presented to an individual from waking up through sleep, it’s going to be tied to a body and set of memories. That person becomes permanently unconscious on death.
