Story time: The most magical 24 hours in Yosemite

I made the 6 hour drive up to Yosemite in the middle of the night to try and catch the elusive moonlit Firefall phenomenon. 

I arrived to Tunnel view around 3am to be greeted by low fog in the valley which is a treat but I was nervous as the low fog has a chance to obscure view of the falls from below. 

As I setup my camera in the pitch black and took a few test shots my hunch was right in that the low fog was blocking Horsetail Fall however as the moon began to set, brief windows of visibility pockets opened up around the falls. As the moon hit the right angle it blasted light back onto both the falls and the surrounding clouds lighting it like fire. 

Thankful to have captured my envisioned shot I moved back up to Tunnel View for sunrise to be treated by one of the most beautiful sunrises I’ve ever seen. As the sun rose it blasted golden light onto all the fog hovering over the valley floor. 

Tired, humbled, and satisfied. This is what keeps me going.
