this is chatgpt's best effort. take note, it is NOT correct about the word "degen" being specific to the "$DEGEN" token. That's hilariously incorrect. Degen - the lifestyle - has been around for ages. Not sure it's real origin, but it's well known among crypto types. The token's name came from the lifestyle/ investment strategy.

in general, /degen is for the riskier side of crypto investing. that being said, farcaster's flavor of degen subculture needfully includes $DEGEN token stuff, which is less specific. i'm not sure what jacek has in mind for /degen gating. probably some combination of /degen fan token ownership, $DEGEN token ownership and locking, something else, or some combination of the above. what i'll resist, as mod, is stuff clearly outside of scope. for example: during $DEGEN token's runup, many, MANY artists used /degen channel for its visibility on the grounds that they were soliciting $DEGEN tips and thus their art belonged no matter the subject. ultimately, if it's in /degen channel, it needs to reflect degen values. that includes art of many kinds, but not every kind of art is allowed. make sense?

Before anything: WHY IS YOUR COLOR TEAL now???? Yes, it makes sense. In defense of artists (not all), we asked for art shared to GIVE tips, not ask FOR tips. At least, that was my case. I gave so many tips in the first season and got almost nothing 😂 because I am a happy giver. Little I knew about the circles of people tipping each other to maximize their own income. After @mikkolagerstedt created the /art-share channel, I started doing call for art there. As I said before, in the early channel days, there were not many channels for art, if any. We have plenty now. I look forward to seeing where we go here. Not sure I see the diference on /degen and /degentokenbase now 🤣
