This is very useful! For my own peace of mind, please explain how the app cannot (either natively or by hacking) change the values sent to Metamask (etc). If the extension is permitted to read and change website data, could Fire be used to hide malicious addresses/ contracts from Metamask?

Yes, due to limitations with browser extensions, all Web3 apps must request read and write access (this includes metamask, coinbase, and all other wallets) For peace of mind, we will be releasing an open-source version of the app for anyone that wants to run it from source.
