checked out @jam this morning. collecting casts in the context of a cast type interface is the key differentiator for me vs. alternatives that take the approach of send-cast-image-to-platforms for minting (on a random contract, w/out the oc's consent 💀). 

imo creator agency + context is everything.

It's a huge difference. As implemented on Jam, it's easy to imagine how tipping will pivot from vouchers to direct value transfers.

Hot take: Buying @jam casts is a better way to reward creators than offchain degen tips.

i'd argue it's not necessarily a 'better' way for the creator; it's a different, and perhaps more durable way, for degen as a token.

for the creator it's a diversification, which is always smart.

It's just more of a long-term thing and shows actual demand for rewarding someone, where with Degen tipping people do that because it's free to do so ...

going to a separate app to reward the author by buying a post isn't that convenient though

Interesting take. Be aware, client diversity is hugely important, more clients are coming, and the experience will change.

If you prefer Warpcast, use that. All good.

But it isn't the only client, even if it is the most important. Making the UX more centralized is... not the direction any of this is heading.

I don't see how jam brings anything useful. You have to purposefully move away from warpcast to go on jam to "buy" a cast which in itself feels unnecessary. Having everything stay on warpcast is the ideal imo. Jam, drakula, rekt all seems like useless things moving people away from one central location.

With offchain tips is there's a little extra incentive to stick around on the platform for the rest of the season.

Just playing devil's advocate though, I really like Jam's model.

The way that it is instant and fairly easily to be purchased again by the next person ( unless the caster deletes) makes it like you said superior to offchain degen tips.
