if we reduce the supply and demand stays constant or increases, token price is favorably effected.

Markets are messy.

Aggressive burns create a sharp and sudden price increase that gets quickly defeated by counter-sell pressure and, from my experience, drifts towards the original price (or lower because people feel defeated).
