Weird wake fact: Red Dead Redemption turned me onto the satisfying sound of horse hooves on wooden bridges in open world games. A seemingly unimportant sound effect that, for me, reveals much about that world. This comes up often in gaming: there are many virtual horses, many more virtual bridges, and they often meet. And when good meets board, I listen. My favorites, in no specific order: RDR1 and RDR2 Ghost of Tsushima Witcher III Breath of the Wild

I think Ghost of Tsushima probably has it beat. That game's visual and sound design was probably the best I've ever seen.

It's tough to beat RDR2's obsession with all things horse physics and sound but, yeah, Tsushima had a wonderful sound scape and olde world style.

Did you ever play Sekiro? Man that game was so fucking hard, but so fucking rewarding at the same time. One that I will definitely never forget. I spent probably 100 hours fighting Genishiro - like the 4th boss before the game finally clicked for me.
