I'm leaving the channels free. Someone mentioned that you should leave some in our wallet in case you need it for token gating. But in this case, I don't think locking removes tokens from your wallet/contract, does it?

meh, not worried about it. token gates will /have/ to consider locked/ unlocked tokens eventually. airstack will make sure of that. it's also not necessary for any channel to use /moxie fan tokens/ as their gate. they might. they might not. locking moves your token to another contract, afaik.
