Hey @jacek can you clarify some of the security concerns that a few of us have been discussing?

To be clear, I don't have "security concerns" of any specific kind. You said, "hey, maybe an audit is good" and I said "yeah probably."

Exactly. Sorry if the screenshot gave a different impression. That wasn't my intention. To be clear: in my opinion an audit is definitely the way to go, even if it's just a formality to assure everyone we're secure and to show we have a external reliable company backing this up.

Sure. And that's your risk tolerance/ curve. Jacek can skip the audit, communicate the risks, and let the game proceed under those parameters. It is a game. The audit is a feature (or not) of our decision to play (or not.) So, either do an audit or tell people there is no audit and they accept all risk (my default presumption and should be everyone's).

Aye but that's a trusting environment and we're trying to build a trustless environment. Open source code and audits by people with more knowledge than the average user are part of that. We trusted Microsoft to make safe programs and they put in back doors. I like Jacek but trusting is not a novel environment.

kinda maybe? crypto's direction should be towards more trustlessness. but the degree of that for any specific project varies. i think degen /broadly/ should, i don't need /allowances/ to bear that burden and audits are, again, mostly the "theater of trustlessness" (marketing) than actual, honest to god security guarantees. if trustlessness /in this context/ is important to you, then weigh that accordingly before participating. for those who don't care as much, likewise.

Totally agree on the theater of trustlessness and the dependance on contracted auditing companies is no different from trusting mortgage credit rating companies. Maybe we need educated independent auditors in our community as a public good. I know enough about tech and previous human errors in smart contracts to care. Jay Freeman Optimism (infinite money), Satya Wormhole (entire bridge), Leon Spacewalker Polygon $18bill. Most users I meet do not know much about the underlying tech or incidents and points of failure.
