Really love this article about dubbing Cowboy Bebop ~ still the onboarder of plenty of anime fans and one of the best shows + OSTs + anime dubs around. Most of Watanabe's animes follow that trend too! https://www.slashfilm.com/1451531/oral-history-cowboy-bebop-english-dub-best-anime-dub-ever/

I recommended it to my sister and watched the english dub for the first time and it took me by surprise. The english dub usually either doesn't get along with the character or the theme but Cowboy Bebop was different. Even the fullmetal dub was also good if I remember correctly.

Dubs have gotten better as localizing and exporting anime has become a bigger market. But bebop totally stood apart for it, and I still think all of Watanabe's stuff is leagues above of most dubs.

Indeed Even with the Nujabes' soundtracks in samurai champloo. I feel like even though most of the people may not know Watanabe but his art is eternal, it is unparalleled even now.

I think the influence of Champloo with Nujabes music for overseas anime fans is huge. If you go to literally any major record store in any of the tourist areas of Tokyo there's ALWAYS a huge nujabes stand right near the entrance (which I shamelessly raid of course)

Hehe😅 I'm also a bit into Joe Hisaishi's work. I'm gonna try to visit Japan after completing my master's degree. It will be a one way trip since I'm gonna be broke once I enter those record stores.

Good time to travel to JP! Busy as hell but the JPY rate is quite good against most currencies, and it can be a cheap country to travel around (until you spend all your money on anime stuff~)
