The difference is money. When you earn something it’s bragging rights in the gaming world. If you buy it then it’s hated. Web3 gaming is seen as a worse form of micro transactions. As long as the rewards aren’t monetary people will love it.

It’s only bragging rights because there’s no ownership of those in-game assets. Imagine grinding a game and actually earning something that’s unique, valuable, and tradable
