Some of the use cases I had in mind are not compatible with "anyone can post in the recent feed". Do you think this should be handled at the client level (show/hide recent), or make moderated channels only have a main feed? (I'd vote for 2)

Client is free to follow as much or as little of the spec. It will likely improve the UX!
