I'm replaying the Facebook/Google Friend Connect debacle of 2008, the Facebook/Twitter FindFriends war in 2010, etc. in my mind. The social graph wars have already taken place more than a decade ago, and I'm trying to find the learnings and what's different now.
Back then, we said the same things, and yes, this was the expectation among web2.0 geeks, so what? Facebook, twitter, Google, got what they could for free and then closed their APIs.
Does it make a difference we have a protocol now? Not sure. 0 reply
