Most NFTs store their artwork on IPFS (and, sometimes, on web servers!). This means that you hold an ownership title on something that may or may not be there after some time. If you got NFTs during the 2022 NFT craze, you have probably already discovered that the artwork of some has disappeared.

l--o--l ships are fully onchain. Which means the artwork will be there, as long as the Base chain exists. Even if l--o--l.xyz stops working, the artwork will be there. It's stored as code in the l--o--l smart contracts.

If you buy your NFTs for the artwork, this is important. 
If you treat them as long term investments, it's important, too.
