There was a command, I think it was "!track" or "/track" that allowed you to set a search string and whenever it appeared, it would notify you. :-)

For sure. This was one of the first features twitter canceled when failwhales started. Otoh, fc has a much better design that early twitter. And the recently introduced gossip bundles will probably make your life much easier.
