Loi Krathong Festival is the full moon day in November, a festival of the spirit of water and light. And there really is a lot of light on this night. The entire Gulf of Thailand is ablaze with the flame of flickering candles symbolizing the souls of ancestors; they merge into one bright, exciting sea - a sea of gratitude to water and light for giving people life. And Thais also believe that krathongs lowered into the water will unite the hearts of lovers in the next life, so on this night everyone shares the holiday with the people dearest to their hearts. And people on this night are united by their desire to be free and happy. The sky trembles from salutes and fireworks, and the air is filled with singing.
