The current /gen-art banner is taken from the art project Herbarium by generative artist @alexandrajovanic and was released as part of the @fxhash interactive minting experience at The Ever-Evolving World of Art, Art Basel Hong-Kong, 2022 Aleksandra is famous for her signature style and aesthetic that blends (generative) art with infographics and scientific illustrations from the 18th and 19th centuries. You have almost certainly encountered her mesmerizing 10-part generative series Chromatlas, released on fxhash from January to July 2022. Aleksandra mentions two female artists as important influences and inspiration for her work, artist and natural researcher Maria Sibylla Merian and Anna Atkins, the first person to illustrate a book with photographic images using the cyanotype process.

In her project’s description to Herbarium, Aleksandra states that „combining scientific symbols and illustrations with imaginary data inspires the spectator to find meaning in unrelated or random things or provokes latent skepticism towards assumed concepts of truth, reality, and knowledge.“ Learn more about the artist on her fxhash profile https://www.fxhash.xyz/u/Aleksandra and on her personal website http://aleksandrajovanic.com/
