What if you added some other interactions on channel posts, like signaling as off-topic? That way, with just a few reactions, it would be possible to filter out off-topic casts.

You wouldn't even have to censor them...just include a default channel filter that tunes out the noise based on that off-topic

I know this can quickly get complex: people might use it as a dislike button, then you'd have to allow for them to contest the off-topic status, etc.

Long-term, I think adding more specific kinds of interactions to the protocol would give apps valuable signals to fine-tune the feed. It might be worth the complexity.
