On her 50th birthday, our mom decided to tell us that we had been raised all our lives not by our birth father, but by a man who loved her dearly and took her in with her two daughters when the biological father rode off into the sunset, “looking for himself.” Mom is still a very beautiful woman and the biological father showed up three days before the anniversary with apologies, pleas that he wanted to live with a real family, that he understood everything, etc. Mom still loves him and dreams of living with him... All these almost 25 years, she waited for him. We are shocked at this news and at mom's thoughts. We haven't had a moment's desire to see our “real” dad. We stay with our dad either way.....
