COP29 RESULT: Too little, too late: The Baku Agreement fails on several accounts. The results are at best the avoidance of a diplomatic disaster. What is most horrifying is that 190 countries managed to produce the smallest of subsidies to the most affected nations amounting to $300 billion by 2035, while the 31 NATO countries will spend 2% of their GDP—representing $50 trillion, on weapons. Is it really so hard to understand which is the most devastating war we need to fight?

Climate change should be our top priority, not military spending. The Baku Agreement's shortcomings highlight the urgent need for more substantial action. Let's redirect resources towards fighting the most pressing threat to humanity.
