The most famous forecast is made by groundhog Phil from the city of Punxsutawney (Pennsylvania). If the groundhog sees his shadow (clear day) — winter will last another 6 weeks. If not (cloudy) — spring will be early.

• World Wetlands Day — established in 1997 to preserve these ecosystems.

The film "Groundhog Day" (1993) with Bill Murray made the holiday world famous. In it, the main character gets stuck in a time loop and lives February 2 over and over again until he changes his life for the better.
