IMHO, data from the last few years should better inform us as to the actual dynamics of staking, and solutions to improve it. (1) The contribution of MEV to solo stakers is rather small. Moreover, a solo staker can build his own blocks >50% of the time and still have almost the same return. Social encouraging the use of the min-bid flag, or even having some low value as the default in a future update (after clearly notifying everyone) can go a long way. It can also be a criteria to any future airdrop, as currently MEV blocks are states as such (may change). Staking from home isn't 60$/month. For non-nomad users with a good connection (not everyone, for sure), it's an old computer and maybe a 200$ SSD. IMO this is better than cloud for the network. Solo stakers predominantly don't want smoothing, they like the lottery. Letting the APY trend to zero, and observe the effect on solo stakers, seams reasonable. Going negative would drive many good actors away. MEV burn is incompatible with local block building. 0 reply
