The humanities suffer from what I’d call “intellectual entropy”—a steady decline in rigor that drags down the quality of discourse, both in academia and online. The issue gets worse when STEM folks, confident in their structured disciplines, dabble in this mess without realizing they’re entering something close to rocket science-if not more so. By the time someone who’s skimmed Beyond Good and Evil once gets to continental philosophy they will mostly be “not even wrong” about most stuff

Post-structuralism, phenomenology, existentialism are dense, challenging frameworks meant to disrupt conventional thinking. They’re probably more rocket science than rocket science. 

If people are stuck on master vs slave morality, weapons of the strong vs weak which is a far as the internet seem to go is usually because they’re lazy (lazy being a good thing usually, but not about this)

Has anybody tried building local llm apps using SQLite for embeddings or vector search

Update on channel decentralization

We've talked about this on the last few dev calls (next one is tomorrow at 10am PT; @v will cast the link), but we're in a bit of a holding pattern for channels.

The recent changes to allow moderation tools like @automod, @airstack.eth, @botornot have worked well enough. But we haven't seen a lot of growth of new channels generating new content for the last couple of months.

So rather than fully decentralize channels in their current form (and have it ossify), we want to continue iterating on the primitive with the hope of finding something that 1) significantly increases interesting and entertaining content on the network 2) starts to drive retained user growth ("I signed up for this app to join this community").
