curious if there were any other ENS-type projects (e.g. attempts to reinvent traditional internet standards for crypto) in the earlier days of ethereum. the more i think about ENS, the more i wonder why there arent similar ambitious projects across diff layers of the net/eth stack.

early on (2014-2015) Swarm (decentralized storage) and whisper (decentralized messaging protocol) were seen as core projects / part of the vision
