Let’s not forget how this conflict started. Biden publicly saying NATO was on the table when he knew in reality it wasn’t. This is the same logic that made the cheerleader from your high school post for blackouttuesday even though she’d never get with a black guy.

Onto dictator appeasement: the West has bluffed itself into playing a high stakes hand against an irrational player with unlimited bankroll on full tilt. He is going to do everything he can to win, even take you all in (this is the nuclear outcome).

Because the west has a family to support and a monthly payment on their house, all of which are known to said tilted opponent, he is able to double down harder and harder, even though his position is getting weaker.

War is more poker than chess- at least in 2022, money and power are the most important here.
