🗞️ 🔥 The U.S. Supreme Court has issued a ruling that limits the powers of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The Court decided that the use of administrative law judges by the SEC violates the constitutional right to a jury trial. Following the Supreme Court’s decision, the SEC will now have to rely solely on federal district courts to enforce securities laws and seek financial penalties. The Supreme Court of the United States issued a decision restricting the authority of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The Court ruled that the SEC’s use of administrative law judges violates the constitutional right to a jury trial. As a result of the Supreme Court’s decision, the SEC will have to revert to exclusively relying on federal district courts to enforce securities laws and impose financial penalties.
