Fintech company Ripple has announced that it has launched its fast payment solution, Ripple Payments, in Brazil. Brazilian cryptocurrency exchange Mercado Bitcoin will be the first company to use this technology to speed up cross-border transactions. Formerly known as RippleNet, the system uses the XRP Ledger blockchain to provide liquidity and settlement, but does not require the holding or use of digital currency. /farcon
