These days are long. I’m a medical student, third year, on my last rotation: surgery. I’m typically here from 5 AM to 5 PM (if not a longer day). I respect more and more what surgeons do every day. However, it’s sometimes hard to stomach some of the worst symptoms of a broken medical training system.

I do this to prepare for our rounds, and present to a team of 3 to 4 Resident. (presenting means articulating aloud everything that has happened to a patient over the last 24 hours, report on how they are doing today, report physical exam findings or new lab values, and tell the team what you think should happen next.)
