I don't deny that Rust has a lot of merits. But the fact is that Mojo is the first language to take advantage of _all_ the advances in MLIR for optimised CPU code, GPU & other accelerator support, & has a significantly faster compile time. Rust is not a particularly good language, but has enough community and industry mindshare to make it a pragmatic choice.
