The Central Bank of Russia has decided to postpone the mass introduction of the digital ruble. The previously scheduled dates for July 1, 2025, when all credit institutions were supposed to start providing digital ruble transactions to customers, have now been revised. According to the head of the Bank of Russia, Elvira Nabiullina, the regulator intends to work out all the details more carefully as part of the pilot project before proceeding to a full-scale launch.The decision to delay the implementation is due to the need for additional consultations with the banking sector on the economic model of the digital currency. At the moment, no new dates for the mass introduction of the digital ruble have been announced. The regulator plans to name a specific launch date after completing all the necessary preparatory stages and analyzing the results of the pilot project.
