The River That Boils Like Lava Deep in the Amazon rainforest, there is a river so hot that it boils animals alive. Known as the Shanay-Timpishka, or the “Boiling River,” its waters reach temperatures of over 90°C (194°F). Scientists believe underground geothermal activity heats the river, but what makes it unique is that it is nowhere near a volcano. Local legends say the river is sacred, and its exact origins remain a mystery. Would you dare to touch the water of this boiling river?
