The Man Who Lived in an Airport for 18 Years

Imagine spending 18 years in an airport terminal. Mehran Karimi Nasseri, an Iranian refugee, was stuck in Paris’ Charles de Gaulle Airport from 1988 to 2006 due to a bureaucratic nightmare. Without proper documents, he couldn’t enter France or return to his home country. Over time, he made a small living space inside the terminal, reading newspapers and befriending airport staff. His story even inspired the Hollywood movie “The Terminal” starring Tom Hanks.
