I've been here a day and have to say this has been so helpful to read.
My question is, why do some casts have a degen hat instead of a heart? Is it just aesthetic or does it have a different utility to the heart?

That is just aesthetic! Is something that appears when you write that word. Same thing happens with 🌈 or “wowow”
