not unlucky. just flick ball getting exposed which was gonna happen in due time anyway. he’s always had cracks in his high risk high reward setup. hopefully fixes up soon or they’ll get battered in CL

I don’t follow la liga or flick so maybe you’re right. They are scoring a tonne but also conceding way more than the Madrid teams. But there’s a good amount of luck involved. If you win an xg game by 2.5 goals you are unlucky not to win the match. That’s basically a certainty.

It’s like team 1-2 vs team 3-4-5-6 when rolling a dice. It could be team 1-2 wins but it’s lucky. And to lose that game against atletico was even worse luck than that.

You should give how to win the premier league a listen/read. I listened to it recently and found it fascinating. And helped me understand what’s actually happening a lot more. You need to be careful about “resulting” in football or any sort of game. Short term results can skew what’s actually happening.

you make sense. and i didnt intend to discredit the luck aspect, it absolutely plays a role. just with flick, apart from the sociedad and monaco game, they absolutely dominated the 3 lost and 3 drawn ones too. it’s almost as if they put themselves in that position by maximizing their surface area for luck and hope they can outscore the opponent. they only have 6 clean sheets in LL and CL all season. so its not hard to score against them right now. anyway, i think thats just me yapping abt the tactical aspect of it. no discrediting luck and any other factor involved. “how to win pl” is also on my list, will give it read soon

It’s like moneyball for football. Came across it randomly but loved it. What you’re saying makes sense. The only game I saw of Barca’s was the 4-0 against Real Madrid. But they could have conceded many in that. And they beat Real 5-2 two days ago. But didn’t watch. At least it’s entertaining watching them.
