Agents have been around for a long time: alarm clocks, monthly subscriptions, spot trading… all the things that « act » on your behalf based on a set of conditions. The only difference is now they are about to get way much smarter.

True. Previously, fully deterministic and predictable output, while now it's probabilistic and more similar to way we act and think. Main difference: Instead of the use of microcontrollers running linear on a clock, now LLMs operating on computes.
