heating in a pre-war nyc apartment during the winter is one of two states

1. being so hot you have to turn the ac on
2. feeling like you might freeze to death

I learned recently that the pre-war philosophy on heating was to keep your windows open to improve health and minimize disease. 

Not sure if it's true or lore, but it's the only way we can manage our apartment heating in the winter.

The streets are also way louder at all hours of the night than it would have been back in the day. Makes it hard to keep them open lol

that’s interesting haha i’ve def had the open before but sometimes it doesn’t do enough to cool it. which says a lot about how hot it gets in here 😅
