We—the players—have been asking for years for an open world monster catcher rpg. 

Pokémon would have been the first choice, but their interests were in line elsewhere. 

@ballswag and I were talking about the  Palworld lawsuit— and how damaging this is for the fanbase. 

Balls says “… patenting mechanics is terrible I think Warner bros patented the nemesis system from the middle earth games which could have made more games full of more betterness”

I had to ask him what the nemesis system was —“involves a hierarchy of enemies that react to the player's actions and change over time” (search labs via google)

In closed door discussions all of my echo chambers are anti gatekeeping, when it comes to game mechanics. 

This makes new games, who don’t have access to the patent or globs of money, have to reinvent the wheel— usually at the cost of players. This keeps innovation stifled and we keep getting the same damn games over and over and over.
