SEC Backs Down on Crypto Exchange Regulation in the US
The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has decided to abandon the proposed regulation of cryptocurrency exchanges introduced during the Gary Gensler era.

Acting chairman Mark Uyeda said the definitions in the regulation lacked clarity and could include protocols that were not originally intended for regulatory purposes.

The regulation, which could have required cryptocurrency exchanges to register with the SEC, was part of the agency’s new policies under President Donald Trump.
