What’s wild is that a lot of the seemingly out-there, speculative fiction ideas we dreamed up back then are now eerily close to feeling real. The global superpowers have fractured, their borders redrawn, while smaller nations have either banded together for survival or fallen to the new political titans of the age. Humanity has unlocked mind-bending technologies—some tied to extraterrestrial intelligence—and rediscovered mysteries and powers buried by time.
