The house we lived in sold for $100k at the end of 2017.  The same house recently sold for $350k. The house hasn't changed very much - a few improvements. At first it looks like real estate did well, but actually - the value of a dollar is what changed but wages didn't really go up. Buying power went down.

Tacos in 2017 $1. Tacos in 2024 $5.50. Burrito in 2017 $7. Burrito in 2024 $17. Bag of carrots $.99 in 2017, bag of carrots $2.99 in 2024. The list could go on  - but you aren't earning more money in 2024 (on average) but the same amount of money is buying far less. I don't know where this stops - not a good place.
