Senate Democrats demand answers on Trump's crypto ties and Binance dealings Senate Democrats, including Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Chris Van Hollen and Richard Blumenthal, are seeking information about President Donald Trump's cryptocurrency ties and Binance. In a letter sent Friday to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Attorney General Pam Bondi, the senators, along with four other Democrats, demanded answers about the Trump administration's supervision of Binance. Bloomberg earlier reported the news.

Bitcoin tops $99,000 as it rallies on constructive momentum, analyst says Bitcoin traded over $99,000 earlier Thursday as a mix of positive macroeconomic signals and continued growth in institutional interest pushed the cryptocurrency toward the $100,000 resistance line. "This isn’t just a psychological milestone, it's a signal of growing conviction," BTC Markets' Crypto Analyst Rachael Lucas said. According to The Block's bitcoin price page, the cryptocurrency has now fallen back to $98,938 as of 1:40 a.m. ET, up 2.64% in the past 24 hours. Bitcoin rose to a local high of $99,400 earlier.

Arizona governor vetoes bitcoin reserve bill, calling crypto 'untested investment' Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs has blocked a bill passed recently by the state's legislature that would have allowed the state's treasurer and retirement systems to invest up to 10% of their funds in virtual currencies such as bitcoin. "The Arizona State Retirement System is one of the strongest in the nation because it makes sound and informed investments," Hobbs, a Democrat, wrote in a letter explaining her veto. "Arizonans' retirement funds are not the place for the state to try untested investments like virtual currency."

Tether says Treasury exposure neared $120 billion in Q1, posts $1 billion profit USDT issuer Tether said its "total exposure" to U.S. Treasurys had neared $120 billion at the end of March, according to a report published Thursday. Tether's USDT is the world's largest U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoin by supply, with over $149 billion worth in circulation. The company publishes quarterly attestation reports detailing the reserves it keeps on hand to back USDT. Accounting firm BDO completes the attestations on behalf of Tether.

ZachXBT says $330 million bitcoin theft victim is an 'elderly' person in US Onchain investigator ZachXBT said on Wednesday that the victim of an alleged theft of $330 million worth of bitcoin is an "elderly" person in the U.S. who fell victim to a "social engineering theft." The online sleuth first reported on Sunday that a "suspicious" transfer of around 3,520 BTC -1.00% (worth roughly $330 million at the time) was made from the victim's wallet to another address before the stolen funds were then laundered through more than six exchanges and converted to Monero. The move triggered a 50% spike in XMR +1.75% 's price due to the size of swaps and thin liquidity on the platforms, The Block's Timmy Shen previously reported.

Solana DeFi protocol Loopscale hit with $5.8 million exploit two weeks after launch Loopscale, a Solana-based decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol, became 2025's latest hacking victim on Saturday, losing over $5.8 million, or 12% of its TVL, to an exploit affecting one of its markets. "The root cause of the exploit has been identified as an isolated issue with Loopscale’s pricing of RateX-based collateral," the protocol said on X. "There is an ongoing investigation into how this happened, who did this, and how we can most effectively recover funds."

The filing notes DeFi Development Company, which rebranded from Janover earlier this week, could offer common stock, preferred stock, warrants, debt securities and other instruments.

US spot bitcoin ETFs log $442 million in net inflows as BTC price shows resilience U.S. spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds continued to see inflows on Thursday, with $442 million flowing into the ETFs. This marked their fifth consecutive day of positive flows. BlackRock's IBIT, the largest spot bitcoin ETF, led the inflows with $327.3 million, according to SoSoValue data. Ark and 21Shares' ARKB saw $97 million in net inflows, while Bitwise's BITB logged net inflows of $10.2 million. Invesco's BTCO also experienced inflows of $7.5 million.
