I’m trying to understand if/why L3s are needed. Are they just “NFTs utility”, e.i. a vague promise that can mean anything to anyone, adjusted to this cycle’s main narrative (memecoins) or a new building block that creates new opportunities and enables primitives that don’t exist yet.

Here are the tldr notes i took - L3 main justification: super low fees + customisation, that unlock new use case where there’s a high volume of transactions (e.g. gaming, social, customer apps) - L2 are for scaling, L3 for customisation : when you don’t have to care about the costs, more data can be stored onchain

- L1 is being used by L2s in two ways: data availability (publishing trx from L2 to L1, the recent update reduced the costs significantly) and the settlement (moving the funds in and out, you want to be where the tokens are, e.g. on Base atm). Ethereum will still capture the value, L3s are about growing the pie.

- Both L2s and L3s have centralised sequencers, so similar level of security, but it may be easier to decentralise the sequencer of L3 than L2 (not sure I get this part :)) - $degen’s vision: las vegas for crypto - fun, little apps + community to experiment what’s possible.

- Not incentivising users to bridge to L3 atm, it’s time for builders. - sandbox: kick off the degen-first versions of dapps every chain needs (nft marketplace, dex). Customisation means not everything you build on L3 can be forked to L2/L1.
