Using systems based on the EVM for L3+ layer might be pretty inefficient?

I love writing solidity but the EVM ties a hand behind your back. Not sure why L3+ layers need to accept its idiosyncrasies.

Yeah def good point r.e. migration, though I feel like migration between non-evm -> evm smart contract could be done depending on how data is structured. I wonder if anyone’s working on anything like that.

My vibe is that L3+'s are often app-specific chains or even ephemeral chains. I agree that those generally can be non-EVM, which best demonstrates the power of rollups. But I can also imagine cases where apps might need to migrate across layers over time, so it ends up EVM for historical/future purposes.
