A place for talking about the Ethereum Virtual Machine on Farcaster.

Idea: refund LOG gas after each transaction up to, say, 1/4 of all non-LOG gas spent by that transaction.
* # of logs in worst-case block unchanged
* ~All common logs (eg ERC20 Transfer) are now free
* De-incentivizes the ugly/bad-DX gas golf of omitting logs
+ it's consistent with EIP-7708, which adds a free log

Alongside this change, 7708 could price the new logs normally. A static ratio seems simpler & less risky than the "free magic logs" approach.

I suspect you only need a 1/10 rebate to achieve the desired effect? Curious to see numbers for common txs.
