What's the origin of "Total Value Locked"? Was it just something that defipulse came up with back in the day and quickly got adopted? When I talk to non-crypto people, I try to just default to AUM as it's a more commonly understood term

curious about this too I've seen more people referencing "Total Value Secured" / TVS recently which seems better

TVS mostly used in reference to oracles and DA today but seems best to use for DeFi too... funds aren't "locked" in contracts like Aave or Lido and as a newbie I'd be a bit spooked by the term "locked"
