Upon leaving the historic Sultanah Zainab Mosque in Istanbul, I was struck by a large tree standing in the road's center before the mosque.
I discovered it had been there since before the road's expansion a century ago. While Istanbul boasts millions of such trees, this one remained untouched, even during road development.
