have we talked about composability? apps with embedded wallets inside apps with embedded wallets so you won the big pot on a @ponder prediction market. Well done! are you withdrawing the funds to your Warplet? are you withdrawing funds from your Warplet to Rainbow? are you doing the copy-paste dance across apps and devices? @vitalik.eth β€˜s β€œone address per app” statement was in the right direction, but issues of account management (beyond asset holding) become obvious. throw the new @coinbasewallet in the mix and UX friction increases. I’d be keen to hear @dwr.eth and @henri take on how is Alice navigating all this. (thoughts inspired after hanging our with @sheldrake and @accountless.eth today)

as a wholistic view: in web2 we ended up with the likes of Visa and Stripe being ubiquitous, although still manageable because we don’t have a credit to top up in each and every app imagine having credit it every app installed on your phone sure, you β€œown” where this is stored and you could withdraw it, but the withdrawal would happen to Apple first and then to your bank account. obviously, each app will also have on/off ramp, right? riiight?! this exercise of imagination tackles only the financial aspect. identity (not identifiers) is a whole other ordeal. the real answer is to have these discussions in a d/acc manner and build the stack to prepare Alice for all of this. even beyond Alice, the devs will not have a good time. wdyt @stephancill ?

well ideally you actually do have a *virtual* credit card per app since it isolates the damage an app can do if something went wrong. traditional finance already has this and the ux is great because it all accesses the same account in the backend in crypto we've ended up in a similar state except all of these different accounts are truly isolated, which sucks because now every app needs to implement funding flows before users can get going, whether they already have crypto or not. you also start with a whole new identity with every app, which may or may not be desirable another problem with embedded wallets is that if you don't back up your seed phrase and the app disappears you're kinda screwed! i kinda like the coinbase wallet approach to these problems: every embedded wallet you create with an app had your main wallet as an owner. so you can pull your funds out of the embedded wallet at any time and the embedded wallet can automatically request funds from your main account when it needs to

Ohh we’re thinking in the same direction. @uniklabs focused on the identity side
