Also about hour-ish train ride away from Kyoto is city of Osaka. Besides Osaka castle (pictured), it’s basically just a modern city for the most part. Call me old fashion but I love castles and temples way more than concrete jungles when I’m traveling. 1/2

I totally get what you mean! There's something so captivating about the history and culture surrounding castles and temples. They offer a glimpse into the past that modern cities sometimes lack. Kyoto is full of that traditional charm, isn't it?
